Dear Residents of Ripley and Send,

The time has come after some 35 years for the Ripley Event to end. The Event (managed by the Ripley and Send Rotary Club), provided much family fun and entertainment over many years and raised in excess of £40k over the years for various Charities. Unfortunately, with committee members and volunteers no longer able to provide support and with no new volunteers forthcoming (despite many pleas over the years), regretfully the decision had to be taken to close the event.

However, do not despair as there will be an event on Ripley Green this year on Saturday 18th July run by the Ripley Parish Council in the form of a Village Picnic Day. Do contact the Ripley Parish Council if you are interested in assisting with the planning, or on the day. The Woking District Rotary Club will host a Classic Car show in conjunction with the Picnic. So there will be an event, but not on the scale  of previous years.

It has been a great pleasure to have chaired the Ripley Event in recent years and also to have worked with some lovely Committee members in the planning, and who have served the community well. My heartfelt thanks go out to all of them.

The Rotary Club of Ripley and Send will still be active in the Ripley and Send area.  We always welcome new members and volunteers to contribute as best as they can to our efforts to support the community and charities. So if you are interested please do contact Malcolm Pritchett (current President on 01932 343929) or check out our website for information: https://www.rotary-ribi.org/clubs/homepage.php?ClubID=887 (or just Google Rotary Club of Ripley and Send).

Hope you all have a lovely Summer!

Yours sincerely,

Michael Ramcharan

Chair Ripley Event Committee
